  There are two possible reasons for a slow game and lags:

  • 1 - Your PC is too slow
  • 2 - The internet connection or the server is too slow

  1 - In case your PC is too slow

  • Update your video card drivers
  • Install the latest DirectX version (Windows only)
  • Try windowed/fullscreen and DirectX/OpenGL! (Windows only) param: -dx, -opengl, -win or -full Start params in Steam
  • Non-Steam Version: Try Launcher.exe!
  • Run Windows update
  • Close programs and processes you don't need (maybe also anti virus software and firewalls)
  • Change the settings to get more speed:
    • Disable the light engine (Options → Graphics → Lighting)
    • Set map shadows to simple or none (Options → Graphics → Map Shadows)
    • Reduce particle details (Options → Graphics → Particle Details)
    • Disable advanced minimap (Options → Game → Advanced Minimap)
    • Set radar to simple or none (Options → Game → Radar)
    • Disable decal rendering (Options → More → renderdecals)
    • Disable decoration rendering (Options → More → renderdecoration)
    • Disable avatar images (Options → More → sb_avatars)
  • If nothing helps: Consider to upgrade your system (especially the video card!)

  2 - In case the connection/server is too slow

  • Try another server
  • Stop all downloads and programs that access the internet
  • Do not use WLAN, try a wired connection instead
  • If nothing helps: Consider to upgrade your internet connection
